Figure 8 Fiber Optic Cable

The structure of figure 8 fiber optic cable is to put 250μm optical fiber into a loose tube made of high modulus material, and the loose tube is filled with waterproof compound. The center of the cable is a metal reinforcing core, and the loose tube (and filling rope) are twisted around the central reinforcing core to form a compact circular cable core. The cable core is longitudinally wrapped with a layer of plastic-coated aluminum tape (APL) and integrated with the steel wire strands into an 8-shaped polyethylene sheath.

Characteristics

The stranded steel wire has extremely high tensile strength, which facilitates self-supporting overhead laying and reduces installation costs.

Good mechanical and temperature performance

Loose tube material has good hydrolysis resistance and high strength

Special tube filling compound ensure a critical protection of fibre

The following measures are taken to ensure the cable watertight:

-Steel wire used as the central strength member

-Loose tube filling, compound

-100% cable core filling

-APL moisture barrier
